The Challenge
Michael had been struggling with insomnia for over a decade. Frustrated and desperate for relief, he was eventually prescribed Zopiclone by his doctor. While the medication initially helped, its effects quickly waned, leading him to increase his dosage. When his sleep issues returned, he began taking Trazodone as well, on top of the melatonin he was already using. Michael found himself trapped in a cycle of medication dependence, fearful that if he stopped any of his sleep aids, his sleep would worsen dramatically. Every past attempt to reduce his reliance on these pills had resulted in a quick and distressing return of his insomnia.
The Progress
Michael completed our CBT-Insomnia program and was able to gradually reduce and then completely discontinue all three of his sleeping aids. His overall sleep quality has improved, and he’s experienced a significant reduction in his anxiety about sleep. The program helped him realize that while his medications provided a temporary fix, they were not a sustainable solution. CBT-Insomnia is widely considered the gold-standard treatment for chronic insomnia because it addresses the root causes of the problem. Our workshops provide in-depth information on topics like sleeping aids, empowering individuals to make informed decisions and build a successful plan to sleep well without them.
